Get Rid Of “Scam Spam”

KEEP THE GOOD STUFF, DEEP-SIX THE BAD

Spam is like the morning dew: it falls upon the just and the unjust. If your e-mail service provider has a spam filter so good it filters out ALL your spam, it’s probably getting rid of messages from your relatives and friends as well . . . along with most of the newsletters you’ve signed up for. A few minutes going through the controls of your e-mail may make a big difference. You should have a “white list” or “favored sites” list by one name or another. This is the place to put e-mail addresses of newsletters you like but which may be filtered out. If a friend or relative complains they can’t get through to you – e-mails containing a link to another website are especially vulnerable to being “disappeared” – put their e-mail address as well.

My husband’s Hotmail e-mail program, after letting my newsletter e-mails through for years, suddenly started “disappearing” it. It didn’t show up in the spam folder. It simply ceased to exist. We poked around in Hotmail’s controls and found the right section – I think it was called “favorites” – put Newsletter@tourthesites.com onto the list, and he once again got the newsletter.
