Webcams Around The World
NATIONAL ZOO WEBCAMS The NATIONAL ZOO in Washington, D.C., has webcams that make it possible for you, in your home, to watch elephants, cheetahs, and even Amazon River fish just being themselves. http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/WebCams/ And then there’s those lovable pandas. Tai Shan, Washington’s so-popular baby, has turned into a big boy, but he’s still charming the crowds. The site says, “He has days of being very alert and wildly playful, followed by a day or two of quiet and rest. On Tuesday, he was playing with a plastic trash can dribbled with honey when he decided to take a rest right inside with only his rear end exposed.” It wouldn’t be cute if we did it, but with a baby it is of course adorable. http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/GiantPandas/ WILD ANIMAL CAMS AROUND THE WORLD Watch webcams of wild birds and animals from around the world, courtesy of NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. Because these birds and animals are NOT in zoos to be stared at, they appear and disappear as the mood strikes them, which of course makes it much more interesting if you happen to be watching when the lion comes to the waterhole – and much more likely that the waterhole is just sitting there. Here is the African wild animal cam, with a listing of the animals’ schedules: http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/wildcamafrica/ And find below a number of other wild animal webcams, which may be up and live and then again may simply be playing old films. See the list here: http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/wildcams.html BABY ANIMALS. Most of us are suckers for baby animals. The NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC has photos of them as just one part of its Animals section.
