CHECKING THE RECALLS
Infected food that kills people,
children’s toys with lead paint – they’re
scary. I can’t get out of my mind the mother who fixed her
four-year-old a spinach smoothie. She thought she was doing such
a healthy thing for her little boy, but that smoothie killed him:
the spinach was infected with E. coli. So that won’t happen
to you, here’s the U.S. government site that lists recalls
government-wide. If you don’t regularly read the kind of
newspaper that writes up important recalls, you may want to sign
up for the automatic e-mails about them, especially for the food
recalls.

And then Sally Squires of the Lean
Plate Club tells us, in frightening detail, how to protect
ourselves and our families from death through food poisoning. I
thought I was a model of virtue because I always wash my hands
after I get home with the groceries and before I put them away. I
had no idea of the YERK! fecal matter lingering on the kiddy
seats of grocery carts and . . . well, read it for yourself.
