Creating Garden Beauty
http://www.mastergardenproducts.com/gardenerscorner If the idea of a "NIGHT GARDEN" appeals to you, please note that one of the All-America selections for 2006 was "Perfume Deep Purple" nicotiana, which sends out waves of sweet scent after dark. If your nursery doesn't have it, you can buy the seed at PARKSEED.COM. ALL-AMERICA FLOWER SELECTIONS: Each year a few new flowers pass their tests with flying colors and become All-America selections. The test? Pruning ideally should be done in late winter or very early spring – EXCEPT for forsythia, which should be pruned right after it blooms. It sets its blooms for the next year in summer, and if you cut it back in the fall or winter, you cut off all the spring blooms. In case you were wondering why your carefully pruned forsythia didn’t bloom. Roses are another thing not always pruned correctly. Although you prune back hybrid tea roses in very early spring, you don’t prune back shrub roses ever – just occasionally get rid of excess or awkward branches. If you’re not sure which kind you have, if it’s a big, bushy bush with lots of leaves, little branches, and twigs, it’s a shrub rose. Hybrid teas put out long, strong, awkward looking branches that are not much to look at, but of course the blooms are lovely. http://www.tutorials.com/09/0900/0900.asp BEAUTIFUL WINDOW BOXES Find here beautiful combinations of flowers for your window boxes: http://www.flowerframers.com/Gardening_Recipes.htm BUILD YOUR OWN WINDOW BOXES. http://www.tutorials.com/06/0613/0613.asp |
