Did It Really Happen?

The Internet contains a good deal of thoughtful, scholarly material supporting the accuracy of the Bible. You’ll find a choice selection of it below.

DID IT REALLY HAPPEN?

Did God really raise Jesus Christ from the dead? Here is Josh McDowell’s classic essay, “Evidence for the Resurrection”:

FINDING THE HISTORICAL JESUS

DR. J. P. MORELAND says, “One of the central claims of Christianity is that Jesus of Nazareth was the incarnate Son of God who died on the cross to atone for the sins of humanity and rose bodily from the dead. Our acceptance of these claims depends on whether or not the New Testament documents are reliable historical sources about Jesus. It is the purpose of this chapter to argue that it is reasonable to accept the substantial historicity of the New Testament.”

As you explore this BE THINKING site, you will find much more material on such things as “science and Christianity” and “the meaning of suffering”: all topics that frequently concern Christians and non-Christians alike.

DIGGING UP THE FACTS

This site serves as a gateway to sites which give archaeological evidence of the accuracy of the Bible. Though I have to say that the last site listed, Archaeology.net, turned out to be nothing but a bunch of ads. The other sites are just fine, though, and will offer abundant material for your own research.

ARTICLES FOR SKEPTICS

RATIONAL CHRISTIANITY has numerous articles in support of Christianity. Some are on the site; some take you to other sites.

THE SKEPTICAL CHRISTIAN

The site says, “The notion that Christianity is based on a ‘leap of faith’ rather than an intellectual commitment of mind and soul to God is widespread in today’s culture. At THE SKEPTICAL CHRISTIAN, this mistake is addressed head on. Christianity is not a worldview for the weak-minded and it is not based on a blind leap of faith.”

CHRISTIANS IN SCIENCE

They say, “CiS is an international network of those concerned with the relationship between science and Christian faith, open to scientists, teachers, students and all those with an interest in this dialogue.”
