Help For Families In Poverty

FOOD BANKS SHORT ON FOOD

U.S. food banks have been running short on food lately. In our neighborhood, the Boy Scouts collect canned goods for the local food bank once a year. But clearly this isn’t enough. Bill and I have decided that, every time we get groceries, we’ll get a few extra cans. When we have a little pile of them, we’ll take them to the food bank ourselves. Every little bit helps.

LIFT A FAMILY OUT OF POVERTY

Yes, lift them out of poverty, not just for a few weeks but for a lifetime. And then get your money back. KIVA.ORG helps you make a small loan (most are $500 to $1,500) to an entrepreneur in a developing country. The loan gives a family a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get out of the cycle of endless poverty. Loan repayment rate? Excellent.
